Mastermix Celebrates 40 Years of Supporting DJs with a Month-Long Anniversary Celebration
July 2026 marks a major milestone for Mastermix as the company celebrates 40 years of helping DJs create unforgettable dancefloors. Mastermix and Richard Lee have been a huge part of SEDA over the years, please join in wishing them a very happy 40th year in business. We are really looking forward to a bright musical future together.
The celebrations commemorate the release of Mastermix Issue 1, which first landed in the summer of 1986 and launched what has become one of the world’s longest-running professional DJ music services.
Throughout July, Mastermix will be marking the anniversary with a month-long celebration across its website and social media channels, featuring nostalgic moments from the company’s history, iconic artwork and products, memories from the past four decades, and a look at how the brand has continually evolved alongside the DJ industry.
The month-long celebration will culminate in the launch of Mastermix 40, a special anniversary release that brings together four decades of musical inspiration in true Mastermix style. Full details will be revealed later in the month, with DJs invited to follow the celebrations as the story unfolds.
Since its beginnings as a vinyl remix subscription service, Mastermix has continually adapted to the changing needs of professional DJs. From vinyl to CD, USB and digital downloads, the company has remained focused on one simple mission: providing high-quality, performance-ready music that helps DJs entertain audiences.
That commitment to innovation continues today. Just days before its anniversary celebrations began, Mastermix launched Grandmaster Slam, the first in an exciting new series of high-energy megamixes designed for today’s dancefloors. The overwhelmingly positive response demonstrates that, even after 40 years, the company remains firmly focused on the future.
“Reaching 40 years is an incredible achievement, but we’ve never been a company that stands still. DJs have changed, technology has changed and music has changed, and we’ve evolved alongside them every step of the way. July is about celebrating our history, thanking the DJs who’ve supported us over the years and sharing some exciting surprises for what’s next.” said Richard Lee, Head of Music at Mastermix.
Over four decades, Mastermix has become a trusted resource for professional DJs around the world, producing thousands of releases across countless genres and formats. The monthly Mastermix Issue, first released in the summer of 1986, continues today and remains the longest-running product in the Mastermix catalogue.
The anniversary campaign will also see the return of one familiar face from the company’s past. Long-time DJs will recognise the iconic Mastermix “Hans” (or Mixerman) mascot, who will feature throughout July as part of the celebrations, paying tribute to one of the brand’s most recognisable symbols.
“This anniversary is really about our customers. For forty years, DJs have trusted Mastermix to help soundtrack weddings, parties, clubs and events around the world. July is our chance to celebrate that journey together and recognise the people who have supported us over the last four decades.” added Helen Lee, Managing Director of Mastermix.
As Mastermix enters its fifth decade, the focus remains firmly on innovation, creativity and supporting professional DJs with music that works where it matters most – on the dancefloor.
